As an interesting sidebar, the other Kevin Smith (CLERKS, CHASING AMY, DOGMA, etc.) supposedly is considering doing another FLETCH film
(not with Chevy Chase). He has cited Gregory McDonald's FLETCH books as a huge inspiration in his own writing.

Not sure if I see it myself, but Smith is an interesting writer/director. The idea of him doing a crime film is certainly intriguing.
