I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "The Deer Park." It's
extremely noir, set in the decadent Hollywood-Palm Springs
set of the fifties. A fine read.
"Tough Guys Don't Dance" is also pretty black comedy/noir.
Not a great book, but amusing.
But "The Executioner's Song" is the towering achievement,
imo...
