Last June (and the previous June, for that matter)
I
gave a presentation at Of Dark & Stormy
Nights
(MWA's
Midwest "How-To-Write-A-Mystery" Seminare) on
doing
research for the police prcedural. Since I went
into
a bit about the historical background of the
procedural and about the breadth of the sub-genre
(I
think Constantine and Anderson both easily
qualify,
for example), I though some of you might be
interested.
Therefore, if I've done everything right, and
it's
possible to send attachments to the entire list,
you
should find a written version of my presentation
attached. And if you're ever in the Chicago area
around June, you might decide to see it in
person.
