Gina Gallo, the daughter of a tough Chicago cop, followed her
father's footsteps as a uniformed beat officer on the streets
of the Windy City. When injuries forced her to end her police
career, she began to write. She started selling short pieces
to the late, lamented BLUE MURDER, the publisher of which,
David Firks, unexpectedly turned out to be an old childhood
friend.
Blue Murder Press published her first book, CRIME SCENES, a
collection of short stories, all based on fact, about what
police work is like in Chicago. She followed the up with
ARMED AND DANGEROUS, a non-fiction autobiography about her
career in law enforcement. Both books are still available on
Amazon and other on-line bookstores.
Gina's writing is tough and sharp, strongly reminiscent of
the pulp-writers of the '30s, but with a 21st Century
viewpoint. If you like short fiction, CRIME SCENES is one of
the best single-author collections of cop stories I've ever
read.
