Yes, that may have had something to do with it. Why isn't
anybody mentioning that now, though? Besides, he had done
much of his best work *before* the infamous broadcasts. And
the Nobel committee did not hesitate to give the award to
staunch Stalinists if they had literary merit.
Think, however, of how Mark Twain was ignored. I suspect that
the funny guys don't get respect. And the guys with gats
aren't even considered.
