I came across a reference likening Derek Raymond to the
Jacobeans. From what I remember (and thoroughly enjoyed),
from school, the Jacobeans tragedians were a pretty
hardboiled bunch, obsessed with revenge and death. I wondered
if anyone knew of a hardboiled crime novel that reworked an
original Jacobean play? I vaguely recollect Alfred Bester
doing a sort of sci-fi homage to Webster, Middleton, Marlowe,
Ford, Tourneur, Marston, Kidd, et al. Can't remember the
title...
