Dick Lochte asked: ". . .don't we owe it to the hardboiled
writers of yore to come up with a pretentious name that will
elevate the status of the so-called "pulp novel"? Maybe
"visceral fiction" or "roman bon marche."
It's too late, Dick. But if only we'd had a name like
"graphic novel" when I was growing up, maybe my mother
wouldn't have thrown away all my funny books. (Am I the only
one old enough to remember when they called that? They were
all called that, even the ones published by E. C.)
