Haven't read it yet.I've got an old UK paperback of one of
his crime novels, 5 AGAINST THE HOUSE, which is about a
casino robbery, IIRC, but I haven't read it. There's also a
film noir movie version directed by Phil Karlson which I
don't recall having seen offhand but would undoubtedly be
worth checking out. Karlson directed some amazing films
around this time.
I'll be watching a video of the movie of BODYSNATCHERS
tonight & I've seen a book on local remainder bookshop
shelves, I think co-edited by Ed Gorman, which is a sort of
scrapbook (a la The Big Book of Noir) devoted to the novel
and movie of BODYSNATCHERS. I'm planning on going back on
Monday & picking it up if it's still there. On the
subject of SF/noirs have you read Richard Matheson's Gold
Medal originals I AM LEGEND & THE SHRINKING MAN? Both
great books, IMO.
