Ah, Joseph Losey. A natural for noir. His _The Trout_ made
such an impression that I could not review it. His noir
version of Don Giovanni is magnificent, noir Mozart.
Some time ago I started to write a novella based on Losey's
life and work, but I made the fatal mistake of watching his
films. I ended up disoriented and my scheme fell to pieces.
Of the great directors, I find him the most difficult to
understand, even more difficult than Tarkovsky.
Maybe I will dig up that manuscript and rely only on memory
and atmosphere. Sometimes research can kill it.
Best regards,
MrT
