Stayed up with Ross Thomas' Briarpatch, and enjoyed it.
Elements of humor, violence, romance are understated and
fast-paced. The protag, Ben Dill, plays out his cards with
plot twists I didn't anticipatate. I'll add his other titles
to my TBR stack.
