rene said: THE BOX is probably the best Rabe novel I've read
& he's an author I like a lot. (Rabe was an early
influence on Donald Westlake, as evidenced by Westlake's
first novel, THE MERCENARIES & his article on Rabe in
MURDER OFF THE RACK. THE MERCENARIES is also a recommended
read, by the way.)

thanks for the recommendation on rabe, rene. in a couple
months, when the "to be read" pile dwindles a bit, i'll go
hunting for that one.
and i've got westlake and stark (they are the same person, i
hope) on the list too. from what i've read here, _payback_ is
a good one. i really don't want to buy a book with a picture
of mel gibson on the cover, but sometimes sacrifices must be
made.
i bought a westlake book called _the hook_ (i think) but when
i read the back cover i kinda lost some enthusiasm about
it... one author paying another author to kill his wife. hmm.
is this book a good read?
