I thought it well done and Twain's life tragic. He must have
been hell to live with and at times he must have found life
to be hell.
Was Twain paid for the Harper's story, or did it sit in the
pending files until it was needed to boost circulation? He
could have used the money.
In between Connellys, I'm taking the time to re-read
Pudd'nhead Wilson, one of my favorite books and on the edge
of noir, though that's anachronistic. In what other book does
the villain get to sell his mother down the river and also
kill his adopted father? Or receive such poetic justice at
the end? Hmm, maybe it's more horror satire than noir
satire.
Cheers,
Sally
