As an inveterate lurker, I noticed a few postings of late
which mentioned Steve Hamilton's Alex McKnight series and
figured some Rara-Avians might like to form their own opinion
about his latest novel, North of Nowhere, the fourth in the
series.
Until Sunday night, May 26th, January Magazine's Book of the
Week contest is giving away five US first editions of NORTH
OF NOWHERE. The novel's rave reviews are pouring in; my
favorite so far is from Marilyn Stasio of The New York Times
who wrote: "Steve Hamilton writes the kind of stories that
manly men and tough-minded women can't resist." Being a tough
chick myself (or feeling that way, most mornings pre-coffee)
that must be why I enjoy them so much, unless of course it's
because of the exquisite evocation of place or the complex
plotting which leaves you guessing all along the way. Ah gee,
am I a fan or what? In any case, free books are a boon in my
opinion, so enter the contest already!
You may enter the contest here:
http://www.januarymagazine.com/contest.html
or read a great North of Nowhere review here:

and soon, an in-depth interview of Steve Hamilton will be up
on the site, too.
Steve's on tour right now and you can see a list of stores,
dates and times on his website... or you can sign up for his
newsletter, The McKnightly News
(yeah, I know, a bad pun - if you think of a better name,
email me!).
