RARA-AVIS: Movies and books and hardboiled characters

I saw the film version of Walter Mosley's
_Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned_ just by chance last night on HBO. Wow! It was really powerful. I enjoyed reading the stories when the book came out, but it is even better as a film and Laurence Fishburne IS Socrates Fortlow. Any idea if _Walkin' the Dog_ is similarly destined for a film?
