I thought that grass was in use in America as well, but a
grass is one who gives information to the Police - often in
return for cash - an informant, squealer etc. The Australian,
and Rene should know more, dob - ie to dob someone in, came
to this country with cheap daytime soaps in the 1980s. I
understand that THE unbreakable rule of Australian male
society is "never dob on your mates". Peaching is just an
older English term for both the above, I have no idea of its
origins, I can't think of any rhymning slang that would work,
it's nice though isn't it? Peaching to the Peelers -
informing to the cops. Cheers, Colin.
