I've lost touch with this in the last 10 years, but there is
a lot of excellent noir for older children, mostly in the
area of Armageddon-fantasyf, and some of it is wonderful -
Nicholas Fisk's "A Rag, a Bone and a Hank of Hair", Gudrun
Pausewang's "The Last Children", Hugh Scott's "Why Weeps the
Brogan", some of Diana Wynn Jones, Margaret Mahy... Won't go
on.
