John D. was a supurb stylist.

As good as Travis McGee is, I think some of his potboiler novels were just as good, but my guess is that they are hard to get.

One of his books, which I think transcends genre, and tells a story of the times is "A Key to the Suite."

But that's just me. I have a sentimental streak.
