The only surprise for me on the top twenty is that Mike
Hammer is so far down the list.
Even if you don't like him, and sometimes I don't, he has to
rank as important in the history of Hardboiled.
It's no surprise that Marlowe beats Spade, there were more
books about him.
As much as I like Sam Spade, I think the Continental-Op was
more important to the history of hardboiled.
