You may download from the web site 'Hard-boiled Mysteries' an essay by Catherine Thompson: 'The Feminization of the Hard-boiled Detective' (see H-BM chapter: Women in HB Literature) It is the text of her accepted thesis (University of New Brunswick, 1977- Master of Arts).

Some Avians (Eddy Duggan for sure) will probably remember Catherine who was discussing hard-boiled topics on the r.a.m news group before Rara-Avis was even born.

Anyway, an interesting view -through a feminist analysis- of these PI women very present now on the hard-boiled scene.
