Most have been recommending (very good) fictional books about
crooks. However, if you want how-to books on everything from
lockpicking to getting around security systems to creating
new identities to building bombs, well, there are two
sources:
www.loompanics.com and www.paladinpress.com
The latter published the no longer available Hit Man: A
Technical Manual for Independent Contractors, for which they
were sued when it was implicated in a hit for hire case.
Timothy McVeigh also had a number of their books on his
shelves.
