I sent a couple of novels to him a couple years ago to have him sign them, after he graciously and enthusiastically agreed to do so. I picked up his short-story HC collection, DEATH ON TELEVISION, a year or so ago and planned to send it as well to him for signing (especially since his short works are my favorite of his stuff)...but just never got around to it. Now...well, obviously that's not going to happen. But I still have it as a reminder of just how talented a short-story writer he was.

A real shame.
