I remember a book by Harry Mazer called _The Solid Gold Kid_ that might qualify. It would probably be called teen lit. It was about a rich kid who is kidnapped and held for ransom. It has been a long time since I've read this (over 20 years) and I still remember the author and title. Must have made an impression cuz my memory ain't usually that good.
