Take a look at Frederick Copelston's
extraordinary multi volume series "A History of Philosophy"
and you may change your mind. Most of the major discussions
and discoveries in moral philosophy and metaphysics (as well
as some of those in linguistics and epistemology) have come
out of various religious inquiries in Western
Philosophy.
