Some of the stuff in NIGHTMARE TOWN wasn't so hot, but it's
Hammett! His early work may not be great, and won't appeal to
a lot of people, but he's a major figure in twentieth-century
American literature and deserves to have all his work
collected. It's happened to worse writers, and worse things
have been collected by writers as good. I suppose if there
were demand, it would be printed; perhaps a small press could
do it, but maybe the permissions would be hard to get.
