Are any of the resident pulpologists here familiar with the
above title by this famous author of westerns. I just picked
up a beat up old pb reissue from International Polygonics Ltd
(IPL)'s Library of crime Classics. It sports an intro by
William F Nolan & was originally published in Detective
Fiction Weekly. EC Beckwirth (who he?) of the New York Times
chose it as "the best written, most artfully constructed
& thoroughly interesting crime-adventure published thus
far within the year [1936]'', according to the back cover
blurb, Beckwirth apparently being qualified to make this
statement because "he keeps an eye closely on the field".
Nolan compares it to "The Glass Key", thematically if not
stylistically.Any feedback would be appreciated. Rene.
