Jack's Return Home by Ted Lewis, a pretty well known series,
I only recall Jack Carter and the Mafia Pigeon of the top of
my head, it was pretty darn good an all. You MUST MUST MUST
watch the Mike Figgis GET CARTER, with Michael Caine it is
one of the finest, noirest (sorry!), and hard boildest films
there has ever been, has a superb soundtrack (Lalo
Schiffrin????) and will probably guarantee you never ever
visit Newcastle in your entire life!
"You're a big man but you're out of shape, I do this sort of
thing for a living." Also famous 'Angry Young Man' playwrite
John Osbourne in a very well played acting role. Cheers

<< Are we talking about the Get Carter starring
Sylvester Stallone? According
to the credits for that film it is basedon a book
called something like
"Jack Comes Home" (I don't recall the name of the
author). I watched part
of it, but realized that I didn't care about any of the
characters, or what
would eventually happen to them. Can anyone on the list
comment on the book?
I'd hate to go through life thinking that the
characters from the source
material were as tedious and unsympathetic as they were
shown to be in the
movie.
