Absolutely. Boucher was reviewing John D. MacDonald, Charles
Williams, Jim Thompson, Gil Brewer, Peter Rabe (not to
mention lesser lights like Al Fray, Jack Ehrlich, and many
others) before they were even a blip on the radar of any
other reviewer.
