Picking up on a few comments:
"One of Martin Limon's army CID cops (forget his name) is
Chicano, from East L.A. "
Limon's cop is George Sueno (the last name is Spanish for
dream). So far his books include Jade Lady Burning, Buddha's
Money and Slicky Boys. I agree that the military
police/Korean setting encourages hard-boiled action and a
good dose of noir attitude.
"<< Did Abella write any others? >> I think he's
got a new one out now. Sorry I can't recollect the
title."
Abella has at least three books that feature Cuban-American
lawyer Charlie Morrell: "The Killing of the Saints", "Dead of
Night" and "Final Acts." I haven't read these but I
understand they are bloody, include cult killings, corrupt
politicians and Morrell's sentiment for Cuba.
