One of Martin Limon's army CID cops (forget his name) is Chicano, from East L.A. The second book (Slicky Boys) has more background on him, but the first, Jade Lady Burning, is better. Haven't read the third, Buddha's Money.
The books are set in Korea, which makes for a great, hard-boiled setting. Doug
