Some time in the late sixties one of my friends was a
Washington policeman.. He always had his gun with him when he
was out within city limits even though he was not on duty
because he said that was a Washington regulation. In George
Pelecanos' Sweet Forever one of the major charaters, Kevin
Murphy, is a cop. At one point he parks his car near his
house, leaves his gun in the car, and walks to a bar. Does
anybody know if that rule was still in effect in 1986, the
time of the book? Mark
