As much as I like Evan Hunter, Ed McBain, et al and I do very
much, I believe that the police procedurals by the late Per
Wahloo and his wife Maj Sjowall are outstanding. Far better
than any of the movies made out of them.
Now if you want hardboiled read anything by Vachss. The
reader needs to be hardboiled to get through them. His cause
is just and he backs his beliefs with money and involvement
on children's behalf. (He and his wife know of what they
speak)
