I love the Johnny Dollar show -- have the two volumne set
from Radio Spirits, but unfortunately they seem to have
exhausted their supply of five-part shows and are only
currently selling the half-hour shows. The five-parters are
excellent, like Dixon said, more character and story
development and Johnny even comes off halfway human in most
of them, which is something a lot of radio eyes never
achieved (Richard Diamond would be the other that ccomplished
this within a relatively short show time).
Every hard-boiled buff should check out Johnny Dollar -- a
definate treat. The writers were always able to have the show
open with Johnny answering a telephone (that's how he
announced himself at the beginning of the show), without
being corny or contrived. --Brian
