In my mind, The Last Good Kiss is the best post-Vietnam
private eye novel, period. Dancing Bear is nearly as good.
Wrong Case is one of the most depressing books I've ever
read, makes Lew Archer at his gloomiest seem cheery. Mexican
Tree Duck and Bordersnakes were nice visits with old friends,
but I didn't think they were nearly as good as the earlier
books.
