To the historians on this list: I seem to recall, about the
time WHITE JAZZ was published, an Ellroy interview in which
he made some inflammatory statement about his place in crime
fiction, something about wanting to burn the walls down on
crime fiction, or some such thing. Does anyone have a clearer
memory of the quote? If memory serves, he took a lot of
static for that comment...
