If you're interested in reading examples of Fischer's
pulp works, try the following:
A Mate for Murder: and Other Tales from the Pulps. Brooklyn:
Gryphon Books, 1992. My notes about the book are: "The six
stories, including at least 4 detective stories, were written
by Fischer in 1940 and 1941 and purchased by what Gary Lovisi
calls in the introduction "the horror-terror market. Then the
market folded in 1941." Clearly, however, the stories were
aimed at Spicy Mystery and Spicy Detective."
The book is still in print.
