I don't often jump in on these discussions, but I'm siding
with Bill Crider, too, on the subject of Spenser. I just
finished Parker's latest, POTSHOT, and it's all sorts of fun.
There is even some detecting going on. While I do agree with
Frank Denton that A CATSKILL EAGLE was highly
questionable
(Parker's wife, Joan, had left him and, as in all Spenser
books, what is happening in Spenser's life somehow parallels
Parker's), and it was followed by a few other tepid efforts,
POTSHOT is worth a shot, and if you don't like it, then take
your potshots.
