There was talk a few days ago about Gruber's book THE SPANISH
PRISONER. Last night I listened to an episode of "The
Adventures of Sam Spade" from 9 Maych 1951, one of the last
season, with Steve Dunne as Spade. It's
"The Spanish Prisoner Caper" and involves the same con. Spade
solves that, and a counterfeiting ring, by sheer coincidence
and luck, even getting Effie to look in his "Con games,
obsolete" file. The Spade of the radio show has little
relation to the book Spade, but nevertheless they're
enjoyable shows.
