I'm a big fan of Miami Blues, the movie actually got me
started reading Willeford. The movie however is more Junior's
than Hoke's. The book obviously isn't.
Disagree however about JJ Leigh. Feel she inhabits this not
very bright but sweet natured creature and actually makes you
feel sorry for her in the end. It's very difficult for an
intelligent actor to play someone that much stupider than
they are without seeing their craft. Case in point: Jodie
Foster in whatever that thing was where she played that
trailer trash who got raped in the poolroom. She's obviously
slumming.
To get back on point, there was a wonderful black & white
adaptation of The Woman Chaser playing the art houses last
year. Really captured the off kilter sensibility.
