Rabe is definitely the goods. Donald Westlake rightly sings
his praises. Rabe's best books are as lean and mean as
anything this side of Jim Thompson. Other Rabe titles worth
hunting down include: The Box, Anatomy of a Killer
(probably Rabe's best novel; it was reprinted in its entierty
in Ed Gorman's Dark Crimes, so it's fairly easy to find),
Murder Me for Nickles (a comedy), and A House in Naples. But
don't stop there. Just about everything he wrote is worth
reading.
