Haven't read about Burke doing that yet ... but then he
hasn't been in a situation in the books that I've read so far
that required him to drink either. Real men don't worry about
what it means to be real. ;)

Don't know if I missed this one or not. In Vachss' Burke books whenever Burke is hanging out in somewhere where he would look out of place without consuming alcohol, he orders a whisky and coke and asks for them in separate glasses. Then he sips at the coke and empties the whisky into the rest of the glass. That way it looks as though he is getting loaded and just can't be bothered with the coke. Real men know it's not smart to drink!
