One of the guys discussed on the "forgotten writers" panel at
Bouchercon was Ed Lacy, which motivated me to dig out one of
his books that I hadn't read. I have the paperback edition
called DEAD END. (The hardback was called BE CAREFUL HOW YOU
LIVE.) It was published the year after Lacy won the Edgar, I
think, and it's tough and noirish and not bad at all.
Thanks to Bill Hagen for mentioning that pop. culture
conference in Santa Fe. It was fun to see my name mentioned
in the same sentence with Tony Hillerman's. Wonder if I could
work that into a blurb?
