Richard Moore is right (as usual). It was Kantor, not Deal,
who made the bet with JDM about the book. I've always thought
that ONE WILD OAT must have been one of Kantor's "trunk
novels." He was doing very well, as Richard points out, and
didn't really need to write a book for Gold Medal.
