i've heard Hammett's _The Dain Curse_ referred to as his
worst novel, his most pulpy, and least well-constructed. how
does everyone here feel about it? granted, it doesn't quite
stack up to _Red Harvest_, but all in all it isn't so bad. it
wanders, played out in episodes, but perhaps with a larger
purpose? any ideas out there?
