I just finished Ross Thomas's "The Procane Chronicles" and am
now reading "The Brass Go-Between", which were published
under the Oliver Bleeck byline. They are very good,
especially "The Brass Go-Between". There seems to be
influence of John D. MacDonald, but Philip St. Ives totally
lacks the implausibility of Travis McGee. I also like about
St. Ives's indifference, it makes him look more real.
One question: Both of the novels were translated as
paperbacks, but were they paperback originals when they first
appeared?
