I was referring to Adams's attitudes -- very bigoted and
jingoistic. Perhaps he was being opportunistic. Quite aside
from this, he was not a first-rate writer. I'm not surprised
you found him boring. I read somewhere that Chandler was his
friend, and the great Norbert Davis co-wrote a book with him.
It's puzzling. Is it possible that sharp guys like Chandler
and Davis did not see the weaknesses?
