Downtown L.A. is filled with cool old Hardboiled buildings
(the Bradbury is a must) and Hollywood Blvd. east of Highland
is still as seedy as ever, despite a few spots of
gentrification. I used to have an office at Hollywood and
Vine in a building that looked like it was right out of THE
BIG SLEEP. It's still there. Have lunch at Musso's and drinks
at Boardner's across the street.
The Formosa is another must-see bar. It's next to Warner's
Hollywood. The cops roust Johnny Stomp and Lana T. at the
Formosa in L.A. CONFIDENTIAL.
And don't forget to check out Chinatown.....
The list could go on and on. Despite "progress" L.A. is still
filled with great old buildings. Bring lots of film.
