I'm also a big fan of Hunter's writings on film (although
Dirty White Boys, the only one of his novels I've read,
didn't do much for me). But for the record, the reviews
reprinted in Violent Screen are from his days at the
Baltimore Sun. I was so impressed by his reviews when he came
to the Post a couple years ago, I bought the book to read the
earlier ones.
His reviews are quite good, but his essays are even better.
He writes one every month or two for the Post Sunday Arts
section. Many of those are on crime movies. I'll try to
remember to mention any upcoming good ones on the list, they
should be available online.
