Last week, I suggested that Junkie was not plot-driven, which
in part made it anomalous with more traditional hb. Charles
Willeford's books all have criminal elements, but they are
not driven by crime per se (especially pre-Hoke). What's the
crime in High Priest of California, for instance? Assault,
