Glad to see Dick Lochte's mention of the film version of A RAGE IN HARLEM. I thought the movie, if not exactly Himes' book, still caught some of the spirit of the book in ways that I enjoyed. And the soundtrack was the one of the best ever. I bought it on cassette and CD.
