Night Moves is a fave of mine. I agree with Mark B that it
gets better with repeated viewings. I also agree with Bill
that Melanie Griffith is pretty memorable.
That downbeat ending is very seventies, as is the rest of the
movie. Although Night Moves was a bit more literal in its
final metaphor of futility, its fit in well with those of
other great movies of the era -- Chinatown, Conversation,
Mean Streets, Two Lane Blacktop (dir. Monte Hellman, also dir
of Willeford's Cockfighter and exec. prod of Reservoir Dogs),
etc.
As a matter of fact, this reminds me, I've been meaning to
pick up a copy of it.
